Having been away on my travels I have not posted now for 2 weeks! I am back and I have a great new style to talk about: The Slip Dress.
The super soft silk dress is back, and with inspiration from the 90’s they are more flirty and feminine than ever. But how do you wear them in the day?
Slip dresses are a perfect day to night style. Whilst it is commonly worn as an undergarment, it is time for them to be appreciated as a dress all of their own.
Calvin Klein, Saint Laurent and Celine are all showcasing their best slip dresses down the runway (I recently talked about CK’s slip dresses in my Fashion Month Favourites post) and it has fast become the new underwear as outerwear trend, with plenty of ways to wear it.
I think layering is key when wearing a slip dress in the day – it is definitely my favourite way to wear one. Such a simple look but so pretty is a plain t-shirt underneath the dress. As well as solving all bra related problems (bonus!) it is super comfy as well as looking really good!
Leigh Lezark (on the right) looks smart with her white shirt underneath a black slip dress, making it simple but stylish whilst Jessica Alba (on the left) has gone for a thin jacket over the top of her cami style dress, making it a perfect day-to-day outfit.
In the Middle: Floral Slip Dress – Miss Selfridge – £37
Rihanna is the queen of slip dresses. Sticking with the dark colours, she goes from a girl with attitude in the day to a classy look at night. This shows the importance of choosing the right colour and for a night out, I can’t think of anything better than wearing a silky smooth dress for utter comfort<3
Here are some other celeb slip dress styles and some of my high street favourites:
Anne Hathaway at the Interstellar Premiere
Lily Aldridge in Michael Kors
Tiffany Slip Dress in Shine Mercury – Motel Rocks – £35
Cold Shoulder Slip Dress – ASOS – £25
Strappy Jersey Swing Dress Black – Missguided – £8
Let me know what you think about the transformation of the slip dress!<3
