Denim on Denim…on Denim? 👖

There is much more to denim than just jeans. It can be fun to be adventurous with it, and 2017 has seen more denim fun than ever. With denim jackets making it down the runway at New York and London Fashion Week, they are right out there in the style crowd.

The must know label Miaou, by Alexia Elkaim, is well known for its jeans with their distinguishing looks. However, even this signature denim line went beyond just jeans at New York Fashion Week and introduced denim jackets into the mix, coming in all different colours down the catwalk.

Every girls denim collection should consist of your comfy jeans, however be daring and try a new style. From flares to ruffle trim, and embroidery and sparkles, denim has been rebranded for 2017 and not only is it having it’s top runway moments, it’s a huge part of street style everywhere.

So update your denim this autumn, as this trend isn’t going anywhere.

Here is my guide to the key denim trends for your wardrobe this year…

Denim jackets are timeless and I think they should be a part of every coat collection. A denim jacket is the ultimate wardrobe staple and they are only getting better with age. No matter what colour, oversized or embroidered, the denim jacket is bringing the 90’s nostalgia with a fresh new look. The good thing about denim jackets is they can be worn over a simple t-shirt and leggings day look, or a black jumpsuit with a pair of killer heels for the night. With an oversized jacket it is perfect for layering, and I particularly love an embroidered pattern on the back and on the sleeves for that something extra to complete your outfit.

(Middle) Sally Slim Fit Borg Collar Cord Jacket – Boohoo – £30

(Right) Blue Embroidered Oversized Denim Jacket – Missguided – (Was £55) Now £35

A good pair of jeans are the item of clothing that every wardrobe needs. In a range of fits it is often impossible to choose just one pair of jeans (that’s why my wardrobe is full of different styles…). My go to pair of jeans are the Joni jeans from Topshop (featured above on the left). I love their comfortable fit and how stripped down or dressed up you can make them as part of an outfit. Whether you like boyfriend jeans or skinny fits, distressed or ripped, the right denim for you is out there. If you prefer your denim a little bit extra, just like the denim jackets, embroidery is a particular trend I am loving, especially on jeans.

(Left) MOTO Indigo Joni Jeans – Topshop – £36

(Middle) Mid Blue Ripped Amelie Super Skinny Jeans – River Island – £42

(Right) Pale Blue Floral Embroidered Ripped Tori Mom Jeans – New Look – (Were £29.99) Now £14 (Also available in black)

Denim skirts are versatile and that’s what I love. You can take them from day to night with ease. Team it up with a simple t-shirt in the day time and even a pair of trainers to complete the outfit, but for night wear, with a pair of heels, the whole outfit is changed. With distressed and button up styles, there is an endless choice of denim skirts to choose from, and again includes the embroidery patterns that I love. The nude skirt above, from Missguided, (left) may be mistaken for suede, but it is denim and I love the lace up detail that adds to the look. I’m all for adding that little extra to make your outfit stand out, and fabrics such as lace are particularly special and a favourite of mine.

(Left) Nude Eyelet Lace Up Denim Mini Skirt – Missguided – £25

(Middle) Lola Lace Trim Distressed Denim Skirt – Boohoo – £18 (30% off at the moment means it is just £12.60, so get in there quickly!!!)

(Right) MOTO Mini Denim Skirt  – Topshop – £29

This skirt is also available in black and it is one of my favourite buys this summer.

Here are some more of my favourite denim pieces…

Abegaila Light Wash Distress Oversized Denim Jacket – Pretty Little Thing – £30

Let me know your favourite denim styles…and are you brave enough to do double denim?

Top Trends for 2017 💁🏽💓

2017 is set to not only bring us new styles but is also taking us back in time with trends very similar to those worn in the 70’s and 80’s. From stripes to flares, this year is expected to be full of new items to excite us all. So have that much needed beginning of the year winter clear-out of your wardrobe, and get ready for an even more needed update.

Straight off the catwalks, there are so many pieces filling the stores already this year, many that are considered a breath of fresh air in my dark winter wardrobe. One of my first fashion predictions of the year is colour, something which I in particular struggle with. I am always drawn straight towards black and grey, which do look good over the winter months but it is always good to have some colour to mix it up. Pastels are a particular favourite and in this post I will be showing how you shouldn’t be afraid to be colourful on a rainy day.

There will also be alternative hems to add a bit of detail to your outfit, including embroidery in a subtle way, and items that can be worn both day and night. So here are some of my must watch trends for 2017…

Peplum Tops/Ruffle Hems

The word peplum comes from the ancient Greek word ‘peplos’ which means tunic, and that is exactly what this design resembles. The peplum trend was around a few years ago and I loved it then, but now it is back and better than before. It has been taken one step further with not only tops featuring the ruffle hem but also jackets, shirts and dresses and is now one of the most popular trends on the high street.

This style can be used for any body type depending on where the hem falls. Shorter at the sides but longer at the front and back work for curvier body types and styles that are longer at the sides but shorter at the front and back are perfect for those with narrow hips.

Here are some of my favourite peplum pieces… (Click the images to find out more!)

Black Sheer Peplum Top – New Look – £12.99

Patrice Lace Up Peplum Top in Mocha – Boohoo – £10

Nude Floral Applique Frill Hem Top – River Island – £26 (Online Exclusive)

Grey Fine Knit Frill Peplum Top – New Look – £11.99

Biker Jackets

Biker jackets are another item that are making a comeback in 2017. This season sees the classic biker jacket being reinvented, especially in colours that you wouldn’t expect. Embrace the rock chic look but it doesn’t have to look like you’re auditioning for a band. Available in faux leather or a suedette style, the new pastel colours that are featured mean that they are versatile with any outfit.

Here are some of my favourite biker jackets…(Click the images to find out more!)

Leather Effect Jacket in Silver – Zara – £19.99

Faux Suede Biker Jacket in Pink – ASOS – £50

Faux Suede Biker Jacket Grey – Missguided – £40

Nude Oversized Faux Suede Shearling Lined Biker Jacket – Missguided – £65

Pale Blue Leather-Look Biker Jacket – New Look – £29.99

From subtle lace inserts in your tops in the day to flattering and feminine lace dresses, this style can look so classy. In this post I have featured three River Island pieces as I think they use delicate and pretty lace for not only their tops but other items such as skirts and dresses (one of which is featured in my previous post Season Style: Winter Wonderland). So don’t be afraid, look luscious in lace!

Here are some of my favourite lace pieces…(Click the images to find out more!)

Nude Lace Blouse – River Island – £30

White Lace Insert T-Shirt – River Island – £28

White Lace Floral Flared Sleeve Top – River Island – £35

Billie Faiers Grey Satin Lace Trim Playsuit – In The Style – £29.99

Binky Stone Plunge Lace Trim Shirt Dress – In The Style – £34.99

Designers have added little motifs to denim jackets for years, along with accessories. So now partnered with other staples such as plain white shirts, coats or skirts, this trend is coming alive this year. Embroidery is everywhere, and is perfect for winter, spring, summer and autumn, so make sure you add this extra detail to your wardrobes over the coming months.

Here are my favourites… (Click the images to find out more!)

Callie White Embroidered Shirt – Pretty Little Thing – £25

Juna Black Denim Embroidered Mini Skirt – Misspap – £24

Anita and Green Black Embroidered Floral Jeans – New Look – £29.99

Romeo Rose Embroidered Ankle Boots in Black Faux Suede – Public Desire – £39.99

Let me know what you think of each style and what are your must watch trends?!💜💜💜

Season Style: Winter One 💫❄️

Your search for the best winter coat starts here! A warm winter coat is a staple item, male or female. From parkas and fur coats to gilets and puffer jackets, winter coats are essential. The runway this year has seen styles such as military, caped and my favourites, animal print and long length.

With the weather being so unpredictable, the winter coat is one of the longest lasting pieces in your wardrobe. There is a style out there to suit everyone, whether it be short and sweet or long and thick.

This season there are so much to choose from when it comes to coats. Faux fur is a big part of this winter coat edit as I think it can add so much to a coat. I am also particularly loving the longer length, although a short or midi style will look just as chic and cosy (maybe not keeping the bum as warm however!).

Spending more on a cover up is not as painful as it would be with a normal item of clothing. Coats are an investment piece as they will be worn a lot and are important for not only keeping us warm through the winter months but also to tie outfits together. A standout coat is the aim of a shopping mission and it is an achievement when finding the perfect one.

So here are some of the best coats of this season…(Click the images to find out more!)

Season Style: Winter Wonderland ❄️

With us being only 5 weeks (whilst writing this, 37 days, 14 hours and 26 minutes to be precise) away from Christmas (EEEEKK!), it is time to banish those wardrobe worries and stay stylishly warm this winter.

Trying to channel our inner Serena Van Der Woodsen whilst number one, not having her bank balance and number two, nursing a huge cold, it can sometimes be tricky to feel chic and confident in the winter months. So take simple style and put as little or as much effort in as you want and you can still look as stylish as possible whilst being comfy. Comfort and warmth are the most important things when choosing an outfit on a cold winter’s morning, so layer up and accessorise (more from me on that over the next week!).

Inspired by the runway, celebrities and everyday street style, this winter has lots to offer with coats, jumpers, shirt dresses and more. Even skirts are becoming a staple item for winter, with styles to suit all. Here is a look at some of the best celebrity looks from the start of this season…

Elsa Hosk

Victoria’s Secret model Elsa kept it simple with a pair of comfy leggings and black boots but styled it out with a cool denim jacket and striped scarf.

Gigi Hadid

Gigi looks as powerful as ever in a long coat and over the knee boots (ones to watch this season!). Ignoring the snow, she shows that skirts can still be worn in the cold weather at New York Fashion Week.

Summer Style ☀️

Cover Photo

Hi everyone! I haven’t posted in a while as I have been busy with university but I am pleased to say that I can finally come back as I have passed my first year!!! So this means…HOLIDAY TIMEEEEE ❤

I am off to Zante in a couple of weeks so have been searching for the perfect things to wear. As the weather is so rubbish in England at the moment, buying summer clothes can be tricky when you are shopping on a rainy day. So here is some much needed inspiration for your holiday style this summer.

From swimwear and cover-ups to playsuits and shorts, it is hard to know what is really needed when trying to pack your suitcase. No more panic buying. Know exactly what you want and exactly where to get it from. So here are some of my favourite summer style steals to get you ready for some fun in the sun…

Swimwear is obviously a must for any holiday. With so many to choose from, it is hard to know which ones to take without overloading your suitcase with ‘just in case’ bikinis. So taking a variety of styles with you means you have swimwear for all occasions.

Triangle bikinis and bandeau bikinis are perfect for lounging round the pool and sunbathing. For me, they are the comfiest to wear and are also so easy to shop for as you can look stylish for less with a variety of different colours in Primark. High neck bikinis are ideal for wearing as they also look good as a top with a pair of shorts. Swimsuits are great for pool parties as they are stylish and sexy but again look good if you decide to put on a pair of shorts.

Lattice Front Bikini Set Pink – Missguided – £25

Multiway Swimsuit – ASOS – £35

Abad x Missguided Skinny Strap Swimsuit Black – Missguided – £25

Acapulco Neoprene Mix & Match Bandeau – Boohoo – £10 and Italy Neoprene Mix & Match Brief – Boohoo – £10

Red Twist Bikini Set – Primark – £6

Playsuits and Jumpsuits

Playsuits and Jumpsuits

Playsuits and jumpsuits are two of my favourite styles of clothing to wear. They are comfy and take minimal effort. I always say that simple is stylish and sometimes less is more, and with playsuits and jumpsuits this is definitely the case. I always think a block colour is perfect for dressing up and patterns are great for holiday beach days. Bardot is a trend at the moment that I cannot get enough of so the extra detail of the frill can add that bit extra without taking your jumpsuit over the top. This can also be done with a wide leg trouser. Also a simple bandeau style playsuit can be kept simple or taken up a notch by adding a chic choker neck.

Jumpsuit with Ruffle Bardot – ASOS – £45

Teegan White Off Shoulder Frill Choker Playsuit – Misspap – £20

Olwen Blue and White Paisley Printed Playsuit – Pink Boutique – £22

It is important to get the right tops for your holiday as you don’t want to be wearing anything too heavy. Cami’s are a great buy as they come in so many different colours and are often a reasonable price! They are also a good investment buy as they can be worn with many different items and for many different occasions. Lace up has also been another major trend of 2016 so taking this from winter to summer is something I love, combining with a camisole to make a cool yet pretty top. Also many people can see chokers as dark and gothic, however I love adding this look to a light top in a pastel colour. This top from Miss Selfridge styles that look perfectly with the lace detail at the bottom making it super summery.

Textured Polka Dot Cami – Forever 21 – £13

White Stripe Frill Bardot Neck Top – New Look – £9.99

Red Strappy Cami – River Island – £14

Bottoms are also a tricky part of a holiday as they are mostly a cover up. A pair of denim shorts are just as important as a pair of jeans; they have to be comfy and go with most things you own. They are perfect for a holiday as they are so easy to put on and go with almost any top. Culottes, as I have shared in a previous post, are an item of clothing that I absolutely adore as they look so classy and also take minimal effort. A pale shade is great for holiday as it can show off your tan! Now you may be thinking full length trousers is a no go on holiday as they will be too warm. However, a pair of flare trousers with a high waist teamed up with a cute lace bralet is a perfect look for at night.

The Bomber Jacket: High Street Favourites 🛍

My Outfit: Pink Bomber Jacket, Primark, £13; MOTO Black Joni Jeans (Ripped and Distressed by Myself), Topshop, £36; Womens Adidas White and Black Superstar Trainers, Schuh, £70

The bomber jacket is back! Straight off the runway and crawling back into the lives of many, this jacket is fashionably fabulous.

The bomber adds a small amount of attitude to your style without turning totally grunge. From bold block colours to retro patterned pieces, this casual jacket is a statement piece that is a must have.

With it making an official comeback, invest now to see you through the summer season and into autumn. Step by step this jacket has caught on with celebs and models and they are now all over the high street.

This 90’s inspired item has got everyone talking and can now be found in so many different styles. Here are the best of the bombers on the high street right now…

Floral Bomber Jackets

Add a summery floral print as a finishing touch to your everyday look with these bomber jackets. Floral is a great print for summer and can add an extra bit of detail to a simple outfit such as a plain t-shirt and a pair of jeans. They are a great mix and match staple and perfect for a casual look.

In Pictures:

Premium Embroidered Floral Bomber Jacket – Missguided – £40

Petite Grey Floral Print Bomber Jacket – New Look – £34.99

Liana Pink Floral Scuba Bomber Jacket – Pretty Little Thing – £15

Satin Bomber Jackets

A satin bomber jacket is a risk that is definitely worth taking. The colour is particularly important with this kind of bomber as it needs to go well with your outfit. The satin material will make it stand out more and therefore cannot be mixed up too much with the colours of your clothes. A khaki colour is a particular favourite of mine as it looks great with a pair of black ripped jeans and a plain white t-shirt.

In Pictures:

Petite Nancy Satin Panel Bomber Jacket – Boohoo – £20

Khaki Sateen Bomber Jacket – New Look – £29.99

Contrast Rib Satin Bomber Jacket Khaki – Missguided – £35

Longline Bomber Jackets

A longline bomber jacket offers an alternative image, with the longer style acting more as a coat but still in keeping with the bomber trend. A longline bomber suits a darker colour and much like a satin bomber works with a pair of black jeans. Perfect for throwing on last minute as part of a casual outfit.

Feeling Skirty 💃🏽

Cover Photo

Summer is coming and it is time for skirt’s to come back out of the wardrobe. And by this I mean without the pair of woolly tights we have been wearing all winter.

Skirts are always a key part of a wardrobe. From wrap designs to straight, it is important to get the right shape for your body and there is a style out there for everyone. They can be worn for any occasion and it is all about getting the right top to match. Here are some of my favourite styles and how to make your skirt the centre of attention in your outfit…

The Split Skirt

Split Skirts

One of my favourite styles is the split skirt. As this is a longline skirt, any top will work as long as it is tucked in. So that means this style is versatile for all seasons. Make it smart by wearing a pair of thin heels with a tight long sleeve top or keep it casual with a white shirt teamed up with a pair of summery sandals. A wrap skirt can also be worn in both a casual and dressed up way, with a simple striped top toning down the look.

Thigh Split Faux Suede Midi Skirt Grey – Missguided – £25

Zip Skirt – River Island – £38

Buckle Wrap Skirt – Mango – £35.99

 The Pleat Skirt

Pleated Skirts

The pleat skirt is a definite favourite for the summer season. They are a perfect look for occasions such as a wedding or the races as they are ladylike and elegant. It is part of simply created outfit and I would suggest wearing a cropped top with this style skirt, or a top that is tucked in like the split skirts. Choosing the right colours is very important and can depend on your skin shade, accessories and even the occasion.

In Pictures (Left to Right):

Chelsey Orange Pleated Skirt – Pretty Little Thing – £15

Pleated Midi Skirt – ASOS – £30

 The A-Line Skirt

The A-line skirt was one of my favourites throughout the winter. Cord or denim, they were perfect for wearing with tights, a comfy jumper and a pair of boots. Now the warm weather has arrived, summer a-lines are a plenty and they are cool and easy to wear. Also like the other skirts, tops look best tucked into this style, whether it be a shirt or a simple t-shirt.
