5 Try Me Trends for 2018 ✨💜

2017 saw a hint of faux fur, sparkles, suits and wide leg trousers making a much needed comeback.

2018 is here and it is time to have that much needed wardrobe clear out of everything you didn’t need in 2017 and definitely don’t need now.

Fresh off the catwalk from pre-fall 2018 Chanel tried to make leg warmers happen once more and Oscar de la Renta presented some very dreamy gowns, so if that is anything to go by it’s going to be a pretty good year in the fashion world.

To get you started, here is the Style Cloud guide to the top trends to watch out for this year…

Red, Red and more Red 💋

Vogue’s Charlotte Sinclair said: “Revolutions are ignited by it, the camera loves it and people go to court over it – no other colour has the extraordinary appeal of red.” The colour is bold, sexy and striking and that is everything a woman should feel going into the new year. Red coats are a particular favourite of mine as they can liven up even the dullest of outfits. Red accessories can be extremely important to an outfit, whether it is red shoes or red lipstick, red is definitely a contender for the colour of 2018.

Faux Fur

Faux fur coats are my favourite thing about winter, and the thought of carrying them over into 2018 is so exciting as they are better than ever. With new colours such as burgundy and even yellow faux fur, this coat has almost become a staple item in many wardrobes. Cropped faux fur coats and gilets are the ones to watch this year.

Paper Bag Waist

The paper bag waist is versatile and great for taking a simple top and creating a jumpsuit look with your outfit. It is also great for testing colours together, as a bold wide leg paper bag waist pair of trousers in a bright red colour can be paired with either a white or a black top. Watch this trend expand further in 2018 with it being seen as part of cigarette pants and suit trousers as well as wide leg.

Sparkle and Shine 💖 A trend that has been around forever is suddenly soaring in popularity. Metallic pants, metallic bags, metallic nails and sparkles everywhere. It is time to shine and wearing sequins and sparkles can make an outfit stand out in seconds. Lover of the sparkle? In all shades and styles, from gold to silver and everything in between, the shops are shining with them all. Missguided are particularly good at everything metallic.

Fringing is everywhere in Paris, trimming tops, dresses, jackets and bags on the runway, especially on the numbers from Balmain. Fringe is going to be a major 2018 trend and it can be started so easily. Start by adding a subtle tasseled accessory to your bag or outfit and then make your way up to big statement fringe pieces. Fringed bags are also continuing into the new year, so take note of this famous fashion trend.

Hottest Heels 👠🔥

Don’t let your footwear be the last thing on your mind when choosing an outfit!

You can make a bold impact with a pair of shoes and getting the right style for you and what you’re wearing is key. Whether it is a chunky heeled sandal for comfy everyday wear or thin stiletto, there are so many different styles to try and enjoy.

Stepping into the new season we have seen plenty of new footwear trends straight off the catwalk. The stiletto is still thriving as well as seventies-inspired styles such as embroidery, and the spring/summer 2017 shoes collections are full of colour, glitter and patterns galore.

It is said a girl can never have too many pairs of heels and the higher the heel the closer to heaven! But getting the right height, comfort, colour or style is sometimes tricky for a lot of people. Need new heels? Time to update your shoedrobe and get ready for some inspiration here on Style Cloud.

Strappy Heels

Strappy heels are great for something subtle and non overpowering for your outfit. They go well with a simple slip dress but also look great teamed with a pair of jeans and a top. A chunkier heel is my go to for a casual look but also makes them a lot comfier to wear, which is why they are great for a day out. A thinner heel makes the shoe a lot more elegant and look perfect with dresses or skirt and top combos.

Lace Up Heels

The lace up trend has been around for quite a while now but I love it more than ever. Now spring is well and truly on its way we are seeing some new takes on this popular look, with not only the popular criss-cross style taking over but we can also see many with the tie around the ankle, taking it even further. Sometimes we even have lace up as high as the knee, but I have chosen not to include those as I want to focus on heels. Last season included skinny stilettos and metal eyelets, but we are now seeing a neater look with the tie up’s, rounded toes and a bolder block heel.

Court Heels

Pointed court shoes are the perfect way to look chic and sophisticated. They also dress up the simplest of outfits such as jeans and a top without looking too overdressed with the casual clothes. They are a timeless trend that are an elegant choice to enhance both your day and night look. Court shoes are now appearing in all colours, including stand out patterns such as leopard print and glitter. So, the choice is yours whether to stick with the traditional court or be courageous with your courts.

Patterned Heels

A patterned heel is a statement piece for your outfit. It is often just the accessory you need to complete your look, whether this be a floral embroidery, a glitter cover or animal print, it needs to be the right pattern to suit what you’re wearing perfectly and make it even better. Your mood can often also determine which pattern you will choose, so a flirty floral pattern can add a girly element to your outfit or maybe a bold animal print to bring out your wild side!

Fur Heels

Fur embellished heels are everywhere at the moment, and I love them! From Gigi Hadid to Kim Kardashian, this trend is popular and I think there are definitely more styles to come. Not only have we got fur lined straps, but we now see, straight off the catwalk, heels with fur foot beds, adding extra comfort to your heels. So, love it or loathe it, the fur footwear trend is here to stay.

Peep Toe Heels

Peep toe heels are a favourite of mine not only for at night but also in the day with a t-shirt and a pair of jeans. They are back and better than ever, but how do you style this trend? Thin stiletto heels are a contrast with the block coverage of the shoe, so these are a good pair for a classy night look. A block heel is a lot bolder and can sometimes act as more of a shoe boot, so these are perfect for in the day as they can be very comfy. It is all about choosing the right heel to compliment your outfit with the full coverage over the foot.
